Energy Cycles Marchlyn Hill-Climb Results,

Please let me start with an apology for the delay in publishing the results for our autumn hill climb, internet problems since the connection was hit by lightening last Thursday.

We were blessed with perfect weather for this spectacular climb up from Pen Llyn to the head works at Llyn Marchlyn, 4.9 miles of climbing on varying qualities of road surface (when, oh when is Gwynedd Council going to resurface the lower sections of the route?) and degrees of steepness.

A good mix of riders departed the time keeper on their way to the reservoir, some 1732 vertical feet above them...

Fach Wen Hill Climb, 21.09.140

On Sunday, 21st September Energy Cycles Club will be holding the third in the series of local hill climbs, on the Fachwen Hill Climb course.

The signing on will be at The Caban in Brynrefail from 8.30 am, and the event will start from the large lay by at Pen Llyn on the Fachwen road at 10.00 am.

Riders will follow the road up thro’ Fachwen towards Dinorwig and carry on up to finish at the dam of Llyn Marchlyn. Distance 4.9 miles, approx. 1732 feet of assent.

Please note: Due to the heightened security level issued by the UK Govenment, the site owners EDF/First Hydro have restricted the use of their land and sites by clubs and organisations. We have been refused the use of the road up to the surge pond, and the keys to the access gate...

Junior Members Ride0

Sunday 14th September 2014. A juniors/members (all are welcome) ride has been organised for Sunday.

Please meet in the car park at the end of the cycle path in Llanwnda at 10.00am.

The second in the series of local hill climbs takes place on Sunday, Club Rasio Mona’s “Llanberis Pass” Hill Climb. Nant Peris. The plan is to go up to Penygroes, Drws y Coed, down to Beddgelert, up thro Nant Gwynant to Pen y Pass, to see the competitors finish at the youth hostel.

Once the race is over, we’ll head down to Betws y Coed and over the Crimea and down to Maentwrog, Croesor, Llanfrothen, Tremadog, Criccieth, Llanystumdwy and back along the lanes to Llanwnda. This part of the ride is subject to change depending on how those riders who took part in the hill climb are feeling after their efforts...

Alp Stwlan Hill Climb, Tanygrisiau. 07.09.20140

The first of the local hill climb events is this Sunday, and I know there is a great deal of enthusiasm brewing from the Energy lads. Anyone who is interested in competing on Sunday and fancy’s riding out (at a gentle pace!!) to Tanygrisiau, then please meet at The Snowdonia Pub in Waunfawr at 8.30 am, or at the Rhyd Ddu railway car park in at 8.50 am ish.

We’ll head south to Beddgelert, Llanfrothen, Rhyd, Maentwrog and on to Tanygrisiau.

Once the race has finished we’ll head over The Crimea, down to Betws y Coed and home via The Pass.

Even if your not competing, this will be one heck of a ride with your fellow Club mates. See what hill climbs are all about, and give the riders your support. I hope to see you there…..
