Energy Cycling Club’s circuit race at Track Mon – 18.08.150

This was the second of two superb races held on the purpose made motor race circuit at Ty Croes, organised by the Club’s very own Wayne Owen. And once again an exciting evenings racing was anticipated by the spectators and the competing riders. And the riders didn’t disappoint.

Many of those who competed in the first event last month returned, perhaps buoyed by their previous positive experiences, and the stunning weather that greeted them.  Along with some new faces, they wanted to see if their late summer form could be turned into victory on the testing 2.1 mile “International Circuit”.

This evening event was a handicap race of fifty minutes, plus three laps, and was anticipated in lasting an hour...

Last Sunday saw a full field of riders face the time keeper in the Welsh National 10 Mile Individual Time Trial Championships, promoted by Pontypool Road Cycling Club on the Abergavenny to Raglan course in South Wales.

Energy Cycles Junior Road Team members Jack Williams and Huw Owen, along with Club members Alun Williams and Garry Ellis took the trip south to test themselves against some of the best riders in the country, and they didn’t come away disappointed.

The weather conditions were ideal for this form of cycle racing, where individual riders are set off a one minute intervals and the fastest rider over the distance is the winner...

Energy Cycling Club’s Gwynedd Cycling Association 15 mile TT, 5th August 20150

Despite the rain holding off, the wind was blowing ferociously from the south (as opposed to off the sea as usual!!) and straight into faces of the competitors on the outward leg to Llanaelhaearn.

Despite the wind, 19 brave souls faced the time keeper for an exciting fight with the elements on this sporting course, and a fight it was. To quote some of the riders after the race “At times I was going less than 10mph on the way out, and over 40mph coming back!!”

This was a new course using a road well used for Energy Cycling Club time trials. It was going to be interesting to see what the fastest times would be in comparison to the “16” that was used for this GCA event in 2014.

With the likes of...

Cycling Weekly Ride, Sunday 9th August 20150

Jack Elton-Walters and a photographer from Cycling Weekly will be meeting us outside the Caban, Brynrefail around 8:30-8:45 with the aim to start at 9.00 am for the spin along the route that Meirion has suggested. The photographer wants to take a few photos in around 3 different locations on the route – locations to be discussed/agreed on the morning. It has been suggested that these could be at Pen y Pass, Penllyn (Brynrefail) and up at Marchlyn with Snowdon in the background – it all depends on the weather of course and what they have in mind!!

Once the ride is complete, its back to the Caban for a panad. Jack Elton-Walters would like to do a short interview with 4 Club members for his article...
