CSAS Race Marshals course, Saturday 29th March0

Welsh Cycling are offering the opportunity for Club members to undertake a days training to become an accredited CSAS Race Marshal. The course will be run by officers from Gwent Police at NW Police Headquarters in Colwyn Bay (location and times to be confirmed) on Saturday 29th March.

Race Marshals are a crucial part of the structure of any race, and without marshals no races could be held on public roads. CSAS Race Marshals play a very important role in road racing by controlling traffic at major junctions, roundabouts, narrow bridges and making other highway hazards safer for riders to pass. This award empowers marshals to legally stop and direct traffic at competitive cycle events. The scheme enables both motor bike and static marshals to exercise these powers. CSAS training courses are free.

This is the type of marshal we need to enable us to run our planned road race later on in the Autumn.

If you are interested in attending the training day and assisting at road events in Wales in 2014, please let John know by Thursday evening and he will then let Welsh Cycling know.
